Jennifer Barnett, Pen & Ink Artist
Jennifer Barnett
Having started my creative journey as an actress and model, I’ve moved through various fields of artistic study. I wrote and directed my own play, choreographed many modern dance pieces, and did a bunch of performance art both here and in San Francisco. In addition, I was the poetry slam host for one of the Lollapalooza tours as well as a variety of coffee houses and bars.
Since then, I’ve raised three amazing (now adult) children, worked as a special education facilitator, and sold used cars. My specialty these days (and for the past ten or twelve years) has been pen and ink line work. I also enjoy playing with acrylics and watercolor. I don’t start with pencil, preferring the honest reality of going bold with pen from start to finish. When I begin, I use one continuous line, then I look to find images in my line work and strive to pull them out so that others can see it all too. I love eyes, faces, trees, and buildings.
I have work in a variety of galleries and businesses in the Indianapolis area, including Aspire of Indiana, Gallery 6202, and the CCA Gallery. In addition to regular spots at the previous galleries, I have also been a feature artist at Forever Gallery and Tattoo.
My works were published in two collections of short stories and art by female authors, Cafe Macabre Parts I and II. I have done many commission pieces as well. Thank you for stopping to read my bio! I hope you enjoy my art!
