Biography

My career started as an elementary school art teacher after graduating from Taylor University in 2004. I taught full-time for seven years before stepping out of the public school system to be at home with my children and invest time in my own art practice.

It was during that time of professional transition that I launched my goal of painting 500 paintings. The goal was for me to grow as an artist by habitually painting several small paintings each week. The 500 Painting Project took me four years and by the end, I was 'up on the bike' as a professional artist, selling my work at local fairs such as Broad Ripple Art Fair and Penrod Arts Fair. In the ten years in which I have been painting professionally, I’ve had many wonderful opportunities to share my artwork with the community in partnership with the following events/organizations: The Decorators’ Showhouse, Methodist Hospital, Palliative Care Unit, Office exhibit (2022-23), Harrison Center for the Arts, High Frequency Arts, Local interior design firms [Sassy Green Interiors, Tiffany Skilling Interiors, Home & Willow Decor and Design, Judy Bates Design], Hamilton County Artists Association, Indy Counseling Professionals Office, and the Indiana Plein Air Painters Association.

Today, I enjoy a combo of painting/selling my artwork as well as teaching art classes and workshops for both children and adults.
